I'd like to get a SCSI Tape Back-up unit for my //e system, but I can't seem to find anyone to tell me whether or not it'll work. I've got an enhanced Apple //e with 1 meg RAM (RAMworks III), 8 MHz Zip Chip, CMS SCSI II card with the latest ROM's, and a CMS 60 meg hard drive installed in slot #5. I'd like to add a SCSI tape back-up to the system but all I've found for software is a program I got from "tybalt" and it talks about the Apple Rev. C SCSI card but nothing else. I'd hate to spend the cash and not have the set-up work. If anyone has any ideas as to the hardware and software I'll need, please send e-mail. I'll post a summary if anyone would like. Ron, I have the same software as you. The docs claim it actually looks for the Rev C roms and aborts if it cannot find them. If this is true, you cannot use the software with your CMS SCSI card. I suggest you swap SCSI cards. Get a RamFast SCSI with the new 2.0 roms. It will be much faster than your CMS card for disk access, and it has tape backup and restore software built in.
