[comp.sys.apple2] hypercard IIGS crashes on bootup

nagendra@bucsf.bu.edu (nagendra mishr) (04/18/91)

I'm posting this for a friend,

He just bought HyperCard IIGS and ran the program with the
write protection enabled on the disks. He ran it once, had some error
upon exit and has not been able to run it ever since.
I tried to install the thing to a Hard Disk twice, with not luck.
It boots up and crashes into the monitor everytime.
When I click on a different stack, it shows a brief glimps of teh
stack and then crashes.

?????

any help would be appreciated.

Are you sure your friend is running System 5.0.4 (nothing less than that
will do)? Adequate memory (2 megs or so)? I found that the Great GrafSpeed
1.1 NDA does funny things with forked applications (like HCGS). Bill Gulstad
said he is working on that bug. It crashed HCGS once, and other times it
would cause certain resources not to show up (like missing stack icons,
missing sounds, etc.) Try booting off a fresh copy of System 5.0.4 from
floppy and running HCGS off the hard drive.

Oops, made a mistake.... I read "Hypercard" as "Hyperstudio". %)

Well, the guy oughta ask for a replacement, wherever he bought it...
