I'm trying to get in touch with John Snow, author of Snowterm. I tried sending email to the address in his latest distribution of Snowterm, but it bounced. So, John, if you're out there, please send me email. I have a question about Snowterm. Read on for more about the problem. My school has a network set up in our residence halls such that IBM- compatibles (that's what THEY thought...:) can plug a DB-25 into a serial port and have a 9600 baud, 7 bit, odd, 1 stop bit line. So far, Proterm is the only program I have found that will recognize the network. When I start Proterm, I get the 'Already on line' message, and just have to set my online parms to get started (will they ever make a defaults file?). When I get into terminal mode, I just have to hit the space bar, and a menu comes up with my connect options. I have been trying to get Snowterm to work with this network, but have had no luck so far. I have tried dialing a ',' to make sure I was in terminal mode, but I guess Snowterm waits for something that never happens, because I can't get any response. A break signal from Proterm usually resets the menu, but from Snowterm I get no nothing. Besides Snowterm, I have tried GenComm, GSVT, and Agate69, but to no avail. I could always use my 2400 modem when I want to have a GUI term program, but I've been spoiled by this network and Proterm all year. Also, does anyone have any ideas how I might upload files through this network? I have successfully uploaded via modem through an 8N1 line (after adding lf's to the file), but I keep getting an Ack failure from Proterm. I tried using Kermit, but I didn't get very far with that either... Any help would be greatly appreciated. Dale LaFountain prophet@oxy.edu
