[comp.sys.apple2] Whats the big deal with Agate69?

sharris@chopin.udel.edu (Scott A Harris) (04/20/91)

Whats the big deal with agates zmodem download I set all the settings
correctly and then timed it against a y modem download. The results-
Agate69s Z-modem took 30 seconds longer on an 8k file than Readylinks
y-modem send. Any suggestions on what I may be doing wrong?
thanks in advance.

I had an ever worse problem. I attempted to download a binary file.
The download 'completed' and so i got off. It was a .SHK file, so
I went into ShrinkIt 3.2.3 and took a look. It reported no errors, but
only had the first file listed. When I looked at the file, it was only
20 k long - the original was 60k!

If I were you, I wouldn't ask the above question... I got flamed for
asking the same thing about Kermit...

Oh yeah, speaking of Agate, and the huge (relative) BinSCII files, can
people please upload things as several messages? This makes it much easier
to catch it with a copy buffer, especially with PC Pursuit. Those of us
at ProLine sites have to deal with XMODEM as the -only- means of
transferring files, and again, this is -painful- over PC Pursuit...

Thanks,
