[comp.sys.apple2] Wow, it's Harry.

mattd@Apple.COM (Matt Deatherage) (04/29/91)

I always find it interesting to see how entire arguments can be built on
faulty basic information (I do this myself all the time, which may account
for my perpetual fascination). A few cases in point:

In article <417@alchemy.UUCP> hzink@alchemy.UUCP (Harry K. Zink) writes:

This would be a good time to point out that:

1) Dave is not in DTS and has not been for several months (about seven, at
this point). His signature clearly (in my opinion) reflects this. I'm
sure you mean to apply your comments to engineering as well, but:

2) Until the latest Apple reorganization this month, DTS _was_ part of the
Apple Worldwide Product Marketing group and had been since mid-1988.
But if marketing messes everything up, how can DTS be worthwhile?

Hmm...I prefer to call it "dire and thought-provoking", but it at least
shows that you're paying attention. :) If you want to discuss "arrogance"
we could create a whole new "apple2" newsgroup for it.

>This whole argument had more to do with the attitudes of some in posting to
>this system, then their competence with apple DTS.

Attitudes in posting? Let me summarize what I intend mine to be. I do this
on my own time, and I try to provide direct and unambigous information in cases
where doing so doesn't jeopardize an Apple business proposition. This often
means telling people that what they want to do isn't compatible, or isn't
supported (meaning it's going to break and you're on your own and I don't want
it running on my machine unless I have the source code), or pointing out
that the Apple II group is _not_ run by the Illuminati.

With very rare exceptions, anyone reading more into my messages than these
things (other than good-natured fun with people I personally know) is trying
too hard to find hidden meaning where none exists.
