Here's a little thing I've been trying to get to work, but do to my limited knowledge of electronics I am not able to figure it out. I have the X-10 Powerhouse modules hooked up all over my house. This was fine when the TI-99/4A was controling them (yes a TI-99/4A) but ever since I got my GS (about a year and 4 months ago) I have been with out the programmable modules, using only the "bare" essentials. I have recently tried to configure the wiring to enable the GS to control it. From the pin-out it seems simple enough. The pin-out on the back of the X-10 control module is 5 1 1 ---- 4 2 2 Recieve (input) 3 3 Ground 4 Transmit (output) 5 ----- The control is supposed to come from the modem out, operating at 600 baud 8 data bits, 1 stop bit. I have tried to connect them so that the modem recieve = the command module recieve and with transmit =ing transmit. No luck though. Is there an easy solution to my problem. On the cable that I dissected there is a transistor, I assume to connect the ground with the transmit (upon transmit) and to connect the recieve with ground (upon recieve). (I don't know, just taking an uneducated guess). So you don't have to go look them up the pin-out on the modem is a follows: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 1 DSR Data set ready 2 DTR Data Temrminal ready 3 RXD Recieve data 4 SGND Signal ground 5 TXD Transmit data 6 SGND Signal ground 7 DCD Data Carrier detect 8 N.C. Not connected Cover chassis ground I must have gone over the connections a hundred times but no luck with any of it. I used pins 3 4 and 5 connected to the respective pins on the command module but again, no luck. Was I using the wrong pins on the modem side, or what the connection bad. Any help would be greatly appreciated and would alleviate much frustration. Thanks in advance. Scott Harris -- Scott A.
