[comp.sys.apple2] Pascal area files?

lhaider@pro-nbs.cts.com (Laer Haider) (04/29/91)

I was trying to load GS/OS on a local ProLine sysops GS today and ran into
an interesting problem. I loaded all the system files on the second hard
drive (30 MB SCSI, CMS I think). Also loaded was ProDOS, Basic.System and
Basic.Launcher. I went to start ProDOS but got a filetype mismatch error.
I went to the launcher to get the info box and it said the file was a
Pascal Area File (or something real similar). When double clicked on,
Finder reported an application could not be found for this file. So, I
recopied those files and tried again. Same thing, the files were changed
to Pascal Area Files. I looked at P8 inside the system folder and the
same thing happened to it. Tried recopying once more, same result. The
files look fine right after the copy, but change once I try to run GS/OS
off of the drive.

Does anyone have ANY idea what's going on here? I haven't got a clue.
Using a system solely for ProLine is OK, but I'm sure he'd like to try
out some of the neat stuff available for the GS. Any help would
certainly be appreciated.
