I called Electronic Arts customer support today and got some shocking news. Not only are they no longer developing products for the Apple II or Apple IIGS, but as of February, they are no longer even SHIPPING or selling products that they already have. They also discontinued support for the Atari ST line at the same time. I called because I own a great program of theirs called Cartooners for the Apple IIGS. It is an amazing super hi-res animated movie tool. I use it for adding animations and titles to my home videos as well as just for fooling around. It's tons of fun. Electronic Arts once made an add-on disk for cartooners called "Cartooners in Space." I called them today to purchase this disk. I was informed that they are no longer willing to copy or distribute any Apple IIGS software. The customer support person I spoke with suggested I look in local stores for leftover stock (not too likely, as they don't carry Apple II software anymore) or post on "Compuserve" to see if someone else can give me a copy. If anyone out there has a copy of the "Cartooners In Space" data disk for Apple IIGS cartooners, I would be happy to send you a few bucks to cover postage and handling to get a copy. Please. If you have seen it hanging on a dusty rack at your local software store please forward their name and phone number to me so I can purchase a copy. Also, I asked electronic arts if they ever defined and published the file format of Cartooner "actors" so customers could make their own, he told me that the program had not been written in-house and that they didn't have access to such info. If anyone out there knows the internal file format for animated actors in Cartooners I would appreciate finding this out. I realize that building an actor will not be trivial. I am prepared to do a bit of hacking to add some flexibility to this amazing tool. Thanks in advance for any assistance offered. Seymour Joseph
