I was speaking with (I think) Ian Trout of SSG a few days ago and he said that Gold of the Americas would be out for the GS by the middle of May (also Run 5 issue no. 16 would be out by the middle of June. My reason for ringing them was to enquire about a GS version of Carriers at War. The answer ... well ... given apples lack of support for the FUTURE of the GS they feel less than enthusiastic though they think the GS is a good machine themselves. The solution ... write, e-mail phone them to ask for GS products! Over 95% of their GS sales are in the US! Kevin

Kevin, what all do SSG have out for the GS? Thanks!

>Over 95% of their GS sales are in the US! > >Kevin I guess I am the 5% outside of the States. :) I certainly do hope the ship Gold of the Americas soon, the last two ads from Programs Plus have included it. And they did bill be for it last summer (part of their buy two get one half price offer). One thing I would like SSG to do is fix the bugs in Halls of Montezuma. I have converted all of the scenarios from Rommel to GS format (except which are except two which I entered incorredtly and can not fix within the Battleplan editor), but I am loathe to send them in to General Trout in fear that they will release Rommel GS without fixing it. If anyone is chatting with them in the future a casual query about HOM 1.1 would be most welcome. UUCP: bkj386!pnet91!ericmcg INET: ericmcg@pnet91.cts.com

The only two GS specific titles are Halls of Montezuma and Reach for the Stars
3.0. Soon to be released is Gold of the Americas.
I consider Panzer Battles to be the same as HOM, the scale is different, but
the game is identical in all respects (I have the 8-bit version). They changed
some terms and chose hoakie symbols, instead of American military sysmbols
used in their previous games. I do not think the system scaled well, it is
much better at tactical simulation than operational, IMHO of course.
I would like to see a campaign version of Carriers at War. This would
certainly make my christmas merrrier. :)
