[comp.sys.apple2] AppleCare

After visiting the campus bookstore, I saw a brochure for AppleCARE. I
preceeded to check it out, and THIS is what I found:

"Announcing 2 plus 1 AppleCARE Protection - now through Nov 15, 1991"

"Your Apple Computter purchase is protected by a one-year warranty."

"If you sign up for two years of AppleCARE now, while your Macintosh
is in warranty (or out of was x'd out!), we'll tack on an additional year of
coverage free."
"That's what makes "2+1" such a valuable offer. You'll receive three
full years of worry-free service protection for the cost of two.

AT THE BOTTOM OF THE BROCHURE, IN REALLY REALLY SMALL LETTERS WAS THIS:

"2+1" is available to university students and educators owning a Macintosh
product in or out of warranty. See your Authorized Apple Reseller on campus
for program terms and conditions. Offer expires November 15, 1991. Apple,
The Apple logo and Macintosh are registered trademarks of Apple Computer,
Inc. AppleCare is a registered service mark of Apple Computer, Inc.

So, it boiled down to this when I asked the guy working there about it.

Only Mac's are allowed in the program. And, According to him, only ones that
are currently under warranty. But he didn't know about the other part of the
brochure which said just the opposite, and wasn't x'd out. So, if you're an
educator or student (with a mac) you can get a pretty good deal on Applecare.

I still WISH the campus bookstore would include Apple II products in with
these deals. Even if the store didn't STOCK Apple II stuff... just being able
to order it at decent prices would be good enough!!

Complain to someone in charge of the bookstore. Write letters to
the correct department of Apple. (I do not know which one that is though)
I talked to someone from Apple about them not stocking Apple II stuff in
college bookstores.. They said they'd tried it in a few places and it
wasn't very popular.

But good ol' democratic complaining is still worth a try..
(Or "constructive criticizm")
