[comp.sys.apple2] Apple II hardware and software for sale.

bruce@mosvax.EE.CORNELL.EDU (Bruce M. Hahne) (05/17/91)

FOR SALE: Mockingboard, serial boards, Z80 board, dead modem, Visicalc,
GBBS, 2 games.

The time has come to sell off a lot of Apple II baggage which I haven't used
for years, in the hopes that somebody else wants it. All prices do NOT
include shipping. I'll accept offers on anything below; if I don't sell it,
it's just going to sit gathering dust for another few years. Everything
below should work on a II+ or //e or //gs unless otherwise specified.
All disks are 5.25". (eww, you still use THAT? (: )

1. Mockingboard 6-voice music board plus Votrax speech chip installed at a
later date. Applied Engineering was selling boards similar to this a while
back, but I don't think they had the speech chip. Features:
     - Stereo RCA output connectors to go to your stereo or to headphones.
     - Original box, manual, and demo disk included.
     - Works with various commercial software, usually older stuff:
          - Skyfox (It's been said that it's worth buying this board just to
hear the Skyfox music and sound effects. I tend to agree.)
          - Ultima III and IV have extensive musical scores commissioned for
this board which play as you're playing the game. I don't know if later
Ultimas continued Mockingboard support or not.
          - Music Construction Set (obviously)
          - Several other older games.

     - I can also include a rather mindless arcade game called "Battle
Cruiser" designed by the board's manufacturer to show off the speech and
sound.
     - Also I can include an Applesoft program I wrote myself (lonnng ago)
which gives you some limited ability to write music for the board.

Asking: $45 + shipping
I think the speech chip alone is worth $40; that's what Jameco was asking for
it years ago, anyway.

2. Apricorn "Serial Interface for the Apple II" including original box and a
manual for a different board, the "Super Serial Imager Serial Interface for
the Apple //e." I picked this up at a swap meet when I needed a Super Serial
board for my modem; the box and manual are for a more powerful board but the
board itself does NOT emulate the Apple Super Serial card. The manual should
be sufficient to get some work done with this board, which should be enough
to drive a serial printer or terminal. Also includes a "graphics sampler"
supplement disk.

Asking: $10 + shipping

3. Apple Computer "Communication Card." This appears to be one of Apple's
earlier serial boards. No original box, no manual. Maybe SOMEbody has a use
for this...

Asking: $5 + shipping

4. Z80 board with:
- CP/M, Dbase II, Turbo Pascal and Wordstar 3.02B on disks.
- "Osborne CP/M User Guide" by Thom Hogan
- "dBase II User's Guide" by Adam B. Green
- "Advanced dBase II User's guide" by Adam B. Green
- Microsoft Softcard manuals, CP/M Reference Manual, and Microsoft Basic
manual, photocopied.
- dBase II Reference manuals, photocopied
- Turbo Pascal reference manual, photocopies

I bought the whole works years ago at a swap meet and haven't touched the
stuff. It's 3 manuals, 2 3-ring binders, and a box of disks. Hopefully
somebody will take it off my hands so I don't end up throwing it away.

Asking: $15 + shipping.

5. Hayes Smartmodem 2400 external modem, broken. The power supply works, the
front-panel lights work, but it doesn't respond to the AT command set. Last
I checked, Hayes wanted $90 flat-rate to fix it. No box or manuals since I
got it at a swap meet. If you're a good tinkerer, maybe you can get this to
work.

Asking: $10 + shipping

6. GBBS Pro version 1.3. One of the earlier very popular BBS packages for
the Apple II series. Owned due to an aborted attempt to start a BBS.
Includes original documentation but not the original disks (this is how I
purchased it).

Asking: $25 + shipping

7. Visicalc Advanced Version for the Apple //e. Requires 128K and two floppy
drives. Includes original documentation (heavy!) and disks. On an enhanced
//e, anytime this program tries to display uppercase inverse, it displays
mousetext instead since apparently this program is from before the days of
the enhanced //e. This isn't hard to get used to, though.

Asking: $20 + shipping

8. The Last Gladiator (Electronic Arts arcade game). For an ECA game, it's
not that great, but as Apple arcade games in general go, it's not bad.
Includes original package and documentation.

Asking: $5 + shipping

9. Lords of Conquest (Electronic Arts strategy game). Vaguely like Risk, but
there are more play options and a create-your-own-map option. Includes
original package and documentation.

Asking: $5 + shipping

All of the above should be shippable 4th class USPS for cheap, or for more if
you want it faster or insured or COD or the like. I don't usually read this
board, so send questions, requests for any of the above, flames, large sums
of cash, and all the rest to any of the addresses below.
