[comp.sys.apple2] Apple ][ emulator

srchan@mac.cc.macalstr.edu (05/16/91)

Howdy folks,
I am playing around with the apl2em program which is an Apple ][
emulator for the PC. It works fine, except that I can't seem to get any
files uploaded to it. Someone mentioned that I needed to make a DISK image
of the entire disk then load that up as a file. The program then looks for
PC files of the format DISKxy.DSK, where X is the Apple Slot number, and Y
is either A or B, referring to slot 1 or slot 2. The emulator comes with a
standard DISK6A.DSK file which contains some boot up programs and a copy
utility, but other than that...nothing. I want to load BILESTOAD onto the
computer so I can play the game again. How do I do it?

I guess my basic question is: How do I make a DISK image?

Greetings.

I would like to get an apple 2 emulator for my pc. I don't care if it's
software or hardware. I have taken a look at the one on simtel and
about gagged. It's a nice program if all you're going to do is run
applesoft basic stuff.

So here's the criteria.
1: has 128K free to the "apple"
2: is apple ][e or bettor.
  3: displays color.
3: will go into 80 column mode (pr#3).
4: will READ and WRITE apple dos 3.3 (16 sector) files with an ibm drive.
5: will run copy protected stuff (my collection of Ultimas)

the list looks about right off the top of my head. Any info is
greatly appreciated, wanted and/or needed (I want to get rid of the old
][e and recover some desk space).

You might as well give up on 4 and 5. Apple ][ and IBM drives use
different modulations on the disk. The hardware is incompatible.

What is this doing in comp.sys.atari.st anyway? What is this doing
in any of the groups listed above? Maybe its time to learn to use
netnews responsibly.
