[comp.sys.apple2] A Display Problem: Colors

WAXMONRW@SNYBUFVA.BITNET (05/19/91)

I am running a ROM 3 GS. During the past week I have had a problem with
16 bit programs crashing into the monitor. Letting the machine sit over
night and leaving it off when not in use has solved this problem. This
morning I have a new problem, with the colors of the screen. The prblem
is that I cannot set any colors in the Control Panel; I can set them, but
they will not stay set! Thus I am looking at a black border with black text
on a red background. UGLY!

Could this be a battery problem; that is, do I need to replace mine. It is
only about 18 mos. old but I do have a habit of unplugging the system when
there are thunderstorms in the vicinity and when I am aware for a few
days. If it is a battery, does anyone have the address of the firm (OWL ?)
in Kansas City that sells them?

Is this more than a battery problem? Is it in any way related to the
previous problem of crashing into the monitor. At that time, the GS
failed two of the diagnostic disk tests: CPU/ROM and System speed/interrupts.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks.
