[comp.sys.apple2] Apple II Viri

davidbrierley@lynx.northeastern.edu (05/26/91)

I've read a few recent posts here that mention some newer Apple //
viri, like Burp and Screen Blanker. If someone knows about these critters
could he/she post notes here and in Virus-L? Thanks.

Burp: If it's the one that trashed my hard disk, it's in BASIC.SYSTEM (the
version that's infected for me was v1.4). I remember reading where upon the
51st access to the BASIC.SYSTEM file it trashed the directory and renamed
it "BURP!". Screen Blanker I haven't heard of.

8 bit Apple's have several viruses they could become infected with.
CyberAids, and Festering Hate, are the most famous ones. They are both quite
dangerous. For DOS 3.3, Killer DOS will nail you as well. To eradicate? Get
Virus MD, written by Morgan Davis, and availiable almost anywhere..
