[comp.sys.apple2] METAL

posty@socs.uts.edu.au (aj roughan 89466588) (06/04/91)

I've seen reports of METAL over the last few weeks. I've even seen a 'release'
dated around November last year.

Does anyone have an update on availability and distribution modes?

I heard that it was (partly?) done by the guy who did MACOS. Is this
correct?

Is a list of features available?

Over the past year and 3 months a friend (Richard Bennett of SCSI.PART fame)
and I have written a BBS host language.

As soon as we finish a sample system (to show you roughly what it can do and
provide a base for you) then we will be releasing it.

It is called Eclipse and will be available through comp.binaries.apple2.
We are unsure on whether it will be shareware or freeware though.

I did announce this product last November.... I had trouble submitting it
to c.b.a2 and we later found problems with it, so it was probably just as well.

Anyway, If you absolutely can't wait for it, then mail me expressions of
interest and I'll mail you a beta copy in the next few weeks.

A full release is expected in late June.... depending on how much work crops
up in the meantime.

As I said before, we are just working on the sample system. The actual language
is complete and very functional. (Combine the best of ACOS, REXX and PASCAL
and there you have our language).

Andrew.
