Hi everybody! A few days ago, I subscribed to this list via the 'apple-info@apple.com' mail address. The amound and scope of the messages is impressive, but they bring along their own problems (for me). I am a student of informatics in The Hague in The Netherlands, and it seems I am the ONLY one I know who has access to this list! Another problem is that I read all these messages and about 80% were about topics I never heard of! So, I'm going to ask a LOT of questions next, and I hope someone can answer them for me. * What is, and where can I get: - Proline - ACOS - MACOS - METAL (I deduced these are some kind of BBS-languages, but what exactly?) - HyperC * I read about this ProLine, and it _seemed_ to me to have some kind of internet connection. Is this true? ANd if so, are there ways of connecting to the internet without having access to a university or company system in Europe? * What is the latest version of: - Shrinkit - Shrinkit GS - the ORCA/ stuff * How can I send/receive FILES with only MAIL priority? (Our school system is not connected to Internet or BITNET, I can send & receive mail, but that is all!) I have this urge to get all programs mentioned in all these messages, but I don't know how to get them! (remember I live in The Netherlands?) This is also important to me because I have a few share-ware programs that I want to distribute in the American Apple // circles. One of them I sent to A2-Central and I am anxious if they place it. It is called DoubleDump 2.0 (No, not the one placed in Nibble some time ago. That one was not mine) It is an utility to display 2 ranges of (//GS) memory next to each other and scroll them seperately or together up and down, compare them, and it can load in files anywhere you want. I programmed it in assembly and it uses 80-cols text, so it is lightning fast! If one of you can answer one or more of these questions, an apple ][-crazy student from The Netherlands would be forever in your debt. I'm working on GS-ShrinkIt v1.1 very, very slowly when I have time off from the Finder (virtually never so far). v1.1 provides most of the functions of a dedicated archiving program. andy -- Andy Nicholas GEnie & America-Online: shrinkit Apple IIGS System Software CompuServe: 70771,2615 Apple Computer, Inc.
