A friend of mine recently decided to get rid of an old Centronics 351 printer. Knowing that I coveted a printer (any printer!) lustfully, he gave it to me. And so the problems began. I have a very old version of Print Shop (about 1984 or so) and a newer version of Personal Newsletter. I am running these on an Apple //c. The problem is that these programs don't allow any configuration of the serial port beyond selecting a printer emulation, and the docu- mentation of Personal Newsletter (I don't have the documentation for Print Shop) doesn't tell me anything about what baud, number of bits, parity, etc. corresponds to these emulations. The printer is set to 8-1-none and I have tried 300, 600, 1200, 2400, and 9600 baud (no mean feat, considering the location of the dip switches :-P) with no success on either program. Can anyone tell me what the program is sending on the various emulations? Personal Newsletter gives the Centronics as an Epson FX emulation. I did use the Utilities disk to configure the serial port, and then printed out file listings from various disks with no problem, so I know that it's _possible_ to get a readable printout. I just couldn't figure out how to boot the other programs without losing the port configuration, and even if I could, what emulation I should select. The printer emulations for Newsletter are: Apple DMP ..., C. ITOH (Prowriter)..., Epson FX..., Gemini 10X, 15X..., OKIDATA Microline. Any ideas on what to check would be greatly appreciated. adTHANKSvance. -rocker
