[comp.sys.apple2] Announcing Revolutionary Disk Utility Program

curtis@achilles.ctd.anl.gov (Jeffrey Curtis ) (06/21/91)

--- ANNOUNCEMENT ---

Are you tired of having to take too much time out of your busy schedule to
perform simple tasks like deleting or moving files? Is the LED on your
floppy drive burnt out because you've been wasting time with second-rate
disk utility programs? Are you envious of the "rich guys having all the
fun" with their light-speed hard drives?

Your time has come - time to step up and take charge of your utility needs
with a revolutionary new product called Heatseeker. Heatseeker has been
specially developed to meet the needs of the users who have had to put up
with too much for too long. Owners of eight-bit Apple //s can now perform
those same, simple commands with speed you would never have dreamed
possible! Take a look at these astounding figures (performed on a standard
floppy drive on an Apple //e):

			Copy //+ v9.0 Heatseeker v0.50b

Delete one file:	13.3 seconds 3.0 seconds
Delete ten files:	52.0 seconds 5.4 seconds
Undelete one file: 5.5 seconds 3.5 seconds
Undelete ten files:	19.0 seconds 4.0 seconds
Lock ten files: 1.0 seconds 0.8 seconds
Unlock ten files: 1.0 seconds 0.8 seconds
Move ten files: Too long! ** 0.7 seconds
.. plus much much more!

** It took Copy //+ over FOUR MINUTES just to complete HALF of this
task! Heatseeker v0.50b was done in less than ONE SECOND!

Clearly, the more work you need to do, the more you need Heatseeker. Can
you afford NOT to own Heatseeker? How much would you expect to pay for such
a product? Twenty dollars? Thirty dollars? Well, Copy //+ can be bought
for twenty to thirty, so surely Heatseeker must be more expensive, right?
Wrong. For a limited time, as users of the Usenet, you can obtain a copy
of Heatseeker ABSOLUTELY FREE OF CHARGE! That's right, free (sorry, no
ginsu knives or vegematics to convince you B^) ). All I ask is that you
leave email to curtis@achilles.ctd.anl.gov with information on your hardware
configuration (computer model, ROM number (if a GS), floppy drive type,
and so forth). You can then expect your own copy of Heatseeker via
email shortly thereafter.

Heatseeker v0.50b should run on any Apple // computer capable of running
ProDOS 8 (even Apple //+s!). As indicated, this is a beta-test version.
Pending response from the users and testers, Heatseeker may or may not
every be fully completed. See the Heatseeker documentation (included
with the program when you leave me email) for full information regarding
the future of this project.

Thanks!
