[comp.sys.apple2] Appleworks and patches, etc.

ATKINSON@RUBY.VCU.EDU ("If I can recognize it, I can deal with it.") (06/21/91)

I've not been watching this list for a while, and the last time I was paying
attention, this topic wasn't being discussed, so here goes.....

I need to know what patches are available, what they do, and where to get them
for AppleWorks on a //e.

In particular, patches for non-Apple printers, and if there is a need for
a patch to make Appleworks go with a 3.5 diskette format.

If you reply directly to me, I will be happy to summarize and post the summary.
Otherwise, reply to the list, and I will get it eventually.

Thanks,
Luther

Speaking of Appleworks and patches, is there a way to get Appleworks to
recognize _all_ the memory in the computer?

I currectly have the equivalent of a //c with a 1meg RAM card. (Okay, it's
a Laser 128EX - big deal.) If the RAM card is disabled, I get a tiny
desktop that fits on the /RAM device. If ther RAM card is enabled, I get a
1010K desktop that fits on the /RAM5 device.

I'm looking for a way to get Appleworks to access both devices. This, of
course, would probably require some generous patching - getting the sizes
of each file on each RAMdisk, then translating the AppleWorks selective
load command to switch between files. At any rate, it would seem rather
complex.

Does anyone know of a way to do this?

Also desired: a way to make AppleWorks auto-segment files. I have a
411-block text file that I've had to segment myself to fit onto two 5.25"
disks. It would, naturally, be much easier all around if I could tell
Appleworks there's more file there that needs to be read from another
disk.... Similarly, getting Appleworks to segment files for saving would
be good.
