[comp.sys.apple2] Hope for II line...

max@ (Max Heffler) (12/06/90)

I just read the following in the December 3, 1990 issue of computer resellers
news:

Randomly: Not surprisingly, Apple has dropped the IIc, IIc mouse,
IIc+, and IIc modem from a Nov. 15 developer's guide describing what
machines hardware manufacturers and software developers should target.

I read this as hope for the IIGS and maybe IIe. What do you think?

I don't think this is hope at all.. I think that Apple is dropping
off the // line one by one...

I think if anything should be dropped, it'd be the //e... The //c
is the "portable" Apple II, and obviously could be made much more
portable, and a true laptop... A laptop //e (a few people quibble about
calling it a //e versus a //c... I just think of a generic 8 bit Apple
// a //e nowadays, and use //c when I really MEAN //c) would be really
cool and a laptop GS would be amazing. It'd be so cool to be able to
take notes in class with AppleWorks GS or something like that.. (So you
can get the text AND the graphics in drawings, etc). I hate taking notes
on paper, maybe that's why I take so few of them!

I just don't really see how that can be seen as hope...

I think you're an incurable romantic. It's a nice thought, but don't
hold your breath (cos' it'll make you blue...)

Sorry, I don't see the occurance of a simple typograhical error as good news,
just because the forgot to put the //e and IIgs in doesn't mean much. Aside
from which, why would they drop the //c and not the //e or vice versa?
