[comp.text.tex] LaTeX - fonts not found using texx

dmcnicol@cs.strath.ac.uk (Daniel J McNicol CS87) (03/01/90)

I am using LaTeX to prepare my project report and I have come across a slight problem.

I have changed the size of the text to [11pt] ( defined just after the \documentstyle declaration and before the document type, am using report type ).

When I run LaTeX it seems to work ok, but if I then try and display the document in a hp window I get the error :-

%s[%@]%s Hmmm ? texx main
texx: cannot get font cmsy10 scaled 1095: No such file or directory
texx: (wanted, e.g., "/usr/fonts/tex/fonts/gf/cmsy10.328gf")
texx: cannot get font cmr10 scaled 1095: No such file or directory
texx: (wanted, e.g., "/usr/fonts/tex/fonts/gf/cmr10.328gf")
texx: 2 missing fonts prevent output (sorry)

It seems to be resticted to the [11pt] size of text since the same error does not appear with the [12pt] size. It is proving to be rather annoying since the only way I can then see the layout is to mail the file to another machine, transfer it to a sun and then print it out a the laser printer.

( The text is being formatted to the right size, it is just that it won't display it on the screen. ) I do not want to do this since I know that a laser printer is not cheap to use.

Perhaps somebody might be able to mail me the aforementioned fonts, or might be able to offer me an alternative solution.

		Yours,

				John....
