This is not the perennial question; but a question/suggestion. Someone has suggested that I could use the Macintosh program GIFConverter. Among the many conversions this program can do it can convert Macintosh PICT files to Encapsulated Postscript (EPSF). Most decent Macintosh paint or draw programs can output files in PICT format. And since EPSF is what the better dvi to postscript converter programs can deal with this seems like a good way to deal with this problem.
