[comp.text.tex] TeX 3.0 for DECStation-3100???

reha@cunixf.cc.columbia.edu (Reha Elci) (05/29/90)

Has anybody compiled TeX 3.0 on the DEC risc platforms yet? Is the source
in web? There is no pascal compiler and even if there is it would be silly
to buy just to compile TeX! Is there an easy way to have it on 3100's?

The Unix TeX distribution compiles under Ultrix; all compilation
is handled through automatic conversion to C, and since I presume
the C compiler under Ultrix is compatible between the DECstation
and VAX architectures, you should have no problems. The Unix TeX
distribution may be FTP'd from several sites, but I suggest that
people order the tape and pay the low service charge since those
funds are used to support the Unix TeX support group (which
provides phone support and works to collect and improve the Unix
TeX software). For information on ordering UnixTeX, write to
