I want to start my TeX source directory with a clean slate. Over the years much cruft has found its way into the source tree due mostly to my own sloppy house keeping. I want to acquire a 'virgin' set of files in order to start over. On Labrea.Stanford.EDU in the pub/tex/unix directory is what appears to be a complete TeX 82 distribution. Also, on Labrea in pub/tex/web2c is what appears to be the new version of Web2C and friends. The README in pub/tex on Labrea has the following contained within: *** IMPORTANT NOTICE *** TeX 3.0, Metafont 2.0, and related programs were released in March 1990. A new version of web2c is now also available, in the "web2c" directory here. The Unix TeX distribution in the "unix" directory here on Labrea.Stanford.EDU is out of date and corresponds to TeX version 2.95, so if you use it, you should update it with the files in the "web2c" directory. Are the files that need to be updated self evident? Is there a list contained in the web2c directory somewhere? The reason I ask these questions is that I do not have enough free disk space to unpack the distribution without getting rid of what is there now. If anoyone who has already done this would care to share what needed to be done I would appreciate hearing from them. Please respond to me via e-mail unless you feel this group needs to have this (probably) rehashed again. While I am asking questions about TeX. Could someone also tell me where I can find the latest version of dvi2ps (aka dvi3ps) that knows how to correctly deal with the laser writer built-in fonts? Thanks in advance. -- Dan Ehrlich <ehrlich@cs.psu.edu>/Voice: +1 814 863 1142/FAX: +1 814 865 3176
