[comp.text.tex] Help! How do I change the fontsize of a figure caption?

low@Neon.Stanford.EDU (Chee M. Low) (06/12/90)

Hi, I'm a novice Latex user. I'm preparing a document using 12pt
report style. I have three questions about Latex here. Can someone
help me out?

Q1. How do I change the fontsize of the caption of a figure?

I had this in my document:

\begin{figure}
\vspace*{2in}
\caption{I like to have more control over the line-breaks and
         fontsize of this caption}
\end{figure}

What I'd like to do is to change the font size to 10pt and
also to introduce line-breaks into the caption. How can I do it?

Q2. How do I change the fontsize of a verbatim segment?

I have this segment:

\begin{verbatim}
here are some text I like to be in a font smaller than
the rest of the document
\end{verbatim}

How can I specify that the text within the verbatim segment
be in, say, footnotesize size?

Q3. I would like to run a spelling and style checker on my
tex file. Is there a way for me to automatically strip out
all formatting commands from a tex file?

Many thanks.
