Currently we are running TeX 2.991 on our suns - I am hoping to upgrade to 3.0 in a month or two when our new fileserver comes in. I have been spending some time mucking around with our installed dvips (4.2) and have come to the conclusion that it is kluged almost beyond belief. Therefore, I'd like to reinstall dvips, but since 3.0 is coming in a month or two anyways, I thought I would put in dvips 5.0 now. I've seen some READMEs to the effect that 5.0 dvips should not be used with <3.0 TeX. What problems, if any, are involved with putting TeX <3.0 and dvips 5.0 together? Many thanks! - Lee PS - After a month of unscrambling the previous TeX installation (and the wild vagaries of Knuth's programming techniques), I feel (just slightly) that I am beginning to understand what I am doing...
