At our lab, several people have bibliographies, and we would like to integrate them into one large bibliography data base. One problem with BibTeX is that we would have to generate unique ids for each citation. A system like "refer" that lets you specify citations by keywords rather than unique id would help greatly towards making the integration of several data bases simpler, since it would eliminate the need to find and enforce a consistent id scheme. The questions I have are: * does anybody have a keyword based version of BibTeX? * what do you do for integrating multiple BibTeX bibliographies? * how do you choose unique ids for your citations?
