[comp.text.tex] novice TeX user needs help!

rob@lighthouse.com (07/02/90)

I am having problems processing a bibliograpy file I received from the
net. I am using the command 'tex filename.bib' and I am getting
errors that look like:

What do these errors mean and how do I correct them ?

Also, is there a short reference document(other than Knuth's TeX
Book's) that describes what to do once TeX places you at the '*'
prompt ?

Thanks in advance,
