I have just stumbled across an ad for a product called MacTex. The phone number given in the ad is no longer in service. Does anyone know anything about this product and its current availability? Thanks, Leslie Burkholder

The company that made MacTeX, FTL, is out of business (or at least they seem to be since no one has purchased anything from them in the last 2 or 3 years, they don't answer their phone or read their mail). There are three other versions of TeX for the Mac: Textures from Blue Sky Research. A slick commercial version. If you want support and want to spend money, this is probably worth it. Portland residents who have seen water balloons plummeting from the skys have possibly been near their offices. Blue Sky Research 800-622-8398 503-222-9571 534 SW Third Avenue Portland, OR 97204 Telex 9102900911 The other two versions are public domain implementations; CTeX is an MPW tool while OzTeX is a full-blown Mac application. These are available from ymir.claremont.edu (assuming I didn't corrupt them in transit) from subdirectories of [anonymous.tex.macintosh]. (if that doesn't work, let me know and try getting the files from midway.uchicago.edu in subdirectories of pub/OzTeX) -dh --- Don Hosek TeX, LaTeX, and Metafont Consulting and dhosek@ymir.claremont.edu production work.
