[comp.text.tex] Increasing TeX's memory...

parker@vela.acs.oakland.edu (Jeff Parker) (07/13/90)

If there is any kind TeX wizard feeling benevolent I could use some help.
I recently received a port of Tex 3.0 for the Amiga. It had no docs, just a
note stating that there are no docs so user beware. After much trial and
error, I was able to get plain TeX (virtex &plain) going. I then grabbed all
the files I needed for LaTeX. However, I run into a serious problem with
running LateX (virtex &lplain). As soon as I declare \documentstyle{article},
TeX blows up on me with:
---------include file texput.log--------
This is TeX, C Version 3.0, (Amiga port BDS release 1) (format=lplain 90.6.24) 5 JUL 1990 07:53
**&lplain

*\documentstyle{article}

! TeX capacity exceeded, sorry [hash size=2100].

If you really absolutely need more capacity,
you can ask a wizard to enlarge me.

Here is how much of TeX's memory you used:
 118 strings out of 1334
1151 string characters out of 8155
25770 words of memory out of 65531
2100 multiletter control sequences out of 2100
22568 words of font info for 84 fonts, out of 36000 for 120
14 hyphenation exceptions out of 307
11i,0n,15p,134b,9s stack positions out of 200i,40n,60p,2000b,2000s
No pages of output.
-----------end of included file---------

I am the closest thing to a wizard here at Oakland University since we
are just now getting up to speed on TeX/LaTeX. I would love to be able
to run LaTeX at home on my A2000 w/ 3meg of RAM.

Thanks for any assistance.
