Anyone got a DVI to Laserjet driver? I'm running dvi2ps at the moment but lots of people insist on using the printer in hp compatible mode (This is an NEC 890 by the way). I though of prepending stuff to make it switch down into postscript and back to hp afterwards but after reading the manual can't find anyway to go from hp to postscript other than pressing the buttons on the front at the appropriate time. Therefore I'm now thinking of dvi'ing straight to Laserjet output. I know there's some stuff in the TeX distribution that makes a start at this but not having a Pascal compiler I really need C. Of course I *could* wade in and write one myself but surely someone has already built this wheel? Warning: Of all printers claiming HP Laserjet compatibility, only the following have passed exhaustive testing: - HP LaserJet - HP LaserJet + - HP LaserJet II - HP LaserJet IIP - HP LaserJet IID - HP LaserJet III In particular, I know of *NO* non-HP laser printer which can handle downloaded bitmap fonts in LJ mode (which is a critical feature if you're printing TeX output). Nelson Beebe will have support for various HP "compatible" printers in his release 3 of his DVI drivers (I think he might be distributing executables now, source is definitely NOT available).
