is there any simple or not-so-simple way of finding out the "real" word count of a latex file -- ie the number of words that will appear on the printed page? even better would be to be able to ignore section headings, tables, footnotes and such like at will. i'm sure there's probably a clever sed/awk way of doing this -- i just imagine that latex *ought* to be able to do this "automatically" while it's parsing the input file. or am i being absurdly optimistic? -- richard -- ===================================================================== richard barnett -- rdb@uk.ac.ed.aipna -- the architect of a belly msc student --- department of ai --- edinburgh university =====================================================================
