Any discussion of what we should do next in space is critically dependent on our goals. So perhaps a more meaningful activity before we talk about detailed missions is to think a little about what do we want to do in space, say for the next 15 years, and why we want to do it. Some of the possibilities are: 1. Space Colonies 2. Solar Power Satellite 3. Planetary bases 4. Space Factories 5. Basic Science 6. National Security (Space Defense Programs) I'm sure the fertile minds on the net can add substantial to this list. The main point being what type of space program we choose to support depends upon which goals we feel are important. Personally I want to get heavy industry off the planet and self supporting Space Colonies established. I like the Earth and think it will be nicer place without industry. I also have high hopes for the human race if they live long enough to evolve into something worth while. The Space Colonies I feel will add to the survival probability of the race. Now maybe my reasons are not very good, I'm willing to listen to some others. Fred
