I have just tried to install AmsTeX 2.0 on a Sparcstation running the C version of TeX 2.991. (This has run properly with the previous version of AmSTeX.) When I try compiling a test file (with one line in it) using the new AmSTeX and the new amsppt.sty, I get the following error message. This is TeX, C Version 2.991 (preloaded format=amsplain 90.9.10) 10 SEP 1990 11 :38 **&amsplain tt (tt.tex AmS-TeX - Version 2.0 COPYRIGHT 1985, 1990 - AMERICAN MATHEMATICAL SOCIETY Use of this macro package is not restricted provided each use is acknowledged upon publication. (/usr/lib/tex/macros/amsppt.sty AMSPPT.STY - Version 2.0 (/usr/lib/tex/macros/amssym.tex) ! TeX capacity exceeded, sorry [pool size=10212]. I have checked the source and in principle the pool size is set to 45000, but there is some possibility that the program is setting it dynamically. Does anyone have any idea of what might be wrong or any suggestions to for trying to trace the problem.
