How do I get emTeX?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Send formatted diskettes in sufficient number (5.25 inch, see above),
return postage, and a suitable self-addressed package, to the author
(see below). Also indicate the fonts desired (i.e. printer type and
resolution). Instead of the self-addressed package you can send a
self-addressed label, so that your packaging can be reused. You should
send me diskettes only if there is no other way to get emTeX.
You also run the risk of having your address given to (a few) other people
in your vicinity who want a copy of emTeX.

2. Anonymous ftp to rusmv1.rus.uni-stuttgart.de [129.69.1.12]
in the directory soft/tex/emtex or to terminator.cc.umich.edu [35.1.33.8]
in the directory msdos/text-mgmt/TeX/emtex. You can obtain emTeX from
other sites, too (Aston, for example).

I found great difficutly getting emTeX from Aston --
the files get screwed up somewhere on the way.
I sympathize; but in case you think this is something special about
Aston, it isn't! Aston is part of JANET, and JANET -> some outside
sites transfers go via a meatgrinder called EARN. Any UK site will
have this problem.

The Aston archive is such a wonderful idea,
and so much time and trouble has obviously gone into it,
it's really a pity they haven't sorted out this problem.
you should see the number of internal moans that go to EARN people! i
will say in our defence that it works fine inside JANET.

just call us Mrs Thatcher
