#N:inmet:10600006:000:1193 inmet!dwp Jan 5 14:01:00 1984 I am searching for Unix programs which do interesting stuff related to astronomy, and thought that some reader of net.space might have knowledge of astronomy-related programs. In particular, the ancient PWB (yes, we still run it) and System III versions of Unix for the 11/70, had two astronomy-related programs, 'sky', - an automated ephemeris for the moon, major planets, and stars - and 'azel', which would generate sky positions for satellites, given their orbital elements. Unfortunately, the distribution did NOT include all the data files for them, and neither works. Since they were "games", no source was ever distributed. I am looking for either 1) the missing data to make these programs work; 2) similar astronomy programs which do work under Unix. We currently run PWB/Unix on 11/70's and 4.1BSD on an 11/780. If you have it running on something, I am willing to do conversions as needed to get it to work. If others are interested, I will post the results of my search.
