Sometime back I posted a query about foreign language dictionaries and converters. I got two useful replies: ---------------------------------------------- From: "Richard A. McGee BRL/SECAD/WSTB 4180" <dickmc@brl.mil> As for as machine translation goes my daughter has used the Language Assistant Series from: MicroTac Software 4655 Cass Street, Suite 304 San Diego, CA 92109 (619) 272-5700 She used the Spanish Assistant in high school and the French Assistant in currently in college. They do word for word translation using a resident editor, can look up words, find the correct conjugation and help on tricky points of grammar. The cost is around $50 each and they are worth the money. Most PD translators have very limited dictionaries. -------------------------------------------------- From: ath@prosys.se (Anders Thulin) In a recent number of Byte (Sept. I think) I saw an ad from some mail order company, who advertised (among other things) a CD-rom which contained software and data for just this task. I think the name of the CD was 'Electronic Dictionary' - you could probably get more info from a CD ROM specialist shop. As the ad was in Byte, I assume it was intended for IBM PCs. --------------------------------------------------- Hope this helps to those ( and others) who requested me to summarize the responses.
