[comp.text.tex] Problem with PSFIG

gsb@bach.caltech.edu (10/30/90)

Hi netters,
I am new to this newsgroup & I am having problems including
postscript files in a latex document using psfig. Postscript files that I
am trying to include fall into 2 categories viz.

     1) PS files generated on a Mac (both with & without laserprep)
(Added approx bounding box values in these files manually)
     2) Raster files converted into postscript file.
(Added approx bounding box values in these files manually)

   What we have/use:
      TeX, C Version 2.93
       psfig
       mac.pro
       dvi2ps-li

For printing, we use laserwriter connected to appletalk. CAP is used for
print spooling from SUN m/cs. Gator Box is the gateway between applenet &
ethernet.

The problems that I have;
1) I can use "lpr" to print all the ps files(MacDraw II- command -F files)
that I have. However, if I try to include these in a latex document what
happens is that the printout will have only pictures. All the text that
were entered in the latex document will not be printed. I get a blank page
where all these texts were suppose to have been printed. If I exclude
these psfiles from document there is no problem in printing the text. Also
I get an additional unnumbered page before the figure. I got same results
irrespective of inclusion or non inclusion of mac.pro file along with the
ps file.
Later I used ps files with laserprep (Removed %%EOF commands in the
psfile) but I encountered the same problems mentioned above.

2) Raster files converted to ps file using pssun: Here the problem is
exactly the opposite to the one in the above case. Everithing except for
the figure will be printed.

I would appreciate very much if some one in this netland can help me to
overcome these problems.
Also I would like to know the availability of any applications which can
automatically find out the BoundingBox values for the ps files. Please let
me know the site where I can ftp these files.

If I get enough replies I will summarize it to the net.

Thanks in advance.
