Greetings! I have just attempted, for the third time, to install TeX on a machine. I got farther than any other attempt, but now I can't get past the initex-inimf stage due to inadequacies in the TeX installation documentation. What I have is the README file from Labrea, which is fine up to the point where you have to build the format files and such. Things seem to fall apart at that stage. What I would like (or would be real neat to have) is a decent, possibly well written, manual or instruction sheet on installing TeX. Actually, all it would have to do would be to lay out, in very simply terms, the steps to go through to install a version of TeX. This would include the initex-inimf stage of *.fmt building and how to build others and font building. Perhaps this thing already exists. This would be a bonus! If so, please (somebody) e-mail the FTP address to me and I will go get it. If such an ideal item does not exist, does something close exist? Again, where? I look forward to hearing from all of you.
