I will be updating to the most recent versions of TeX and LaTeX on a few machines here, and have decided, while I am at it, to put together the best LaTeX typesetting system (software-wise) I can. So, I am soliciting comments regarding the following (admittedly half-baked at this stage :-) ideas: Platform: Sun4s, running SunOS 4.1, and X11R4; Apple LaserWriter IINT * most recent versions of TeX and LaTeX * pk font files (I've been told these are most efficient) * the dvi to Postscript program which has hooks to METAFONT (I'll grab the most recent version of that, too) to generate fonts on the fly---I think that's Rokicki's dvips * best previewer to work with the above---I have a feeling that Ghostscript might be best, after the dvi file has been converted to Postscript, of course; does Ghostscript have some of the cool buttons that xdvi has? * inclusion of Postscript fonts (namely Times-Roman) Comments on the above will be much appreciated. If I get a great deal of email responses, I'll summarize. Cheers! Rob Wargaski -- Robert E.
