[comp.text.tex] amssym.def/amssym.tex with LaTeX?

Can we use "amssym.def" and "amssym.tex" with LaTeX?

In case of the older version of AmSTeX, a file
"mssymb.tex" is used with LaTeX. In the "mssymb.tex",
the "\Bbb" definition for AmSTeX was different that
for others such as LaTeX.
