[comp.text.tex] single-spaced quotes with doublespace style

A couple of weeks ago someone posted asking how to get single-spaced
quotes in a double-spaced document.  It was suggested that he use
doublespace.sty (or setspace.sty) and
	\begin{singlespace}
	\begin{quote}
	....
	\end{singlespace}
	\end{quote}

Well, I tried that, and I don't like it.  As noted in doublespace.sty,
this puts extra space before the quote.  Has anyone figured a way to
get a single-spaced quote into a double-spaced document with proper
spacing?  Thanks....
