I have been trying to obtain satisfactory TeX results on a QUME Scripten postscript printer. I have tried dvips (including version 5.4), dvitops, and dvi2ps but nothing seems to work. The problem is that if you look closely at the output, it appears that some of the pixels are being left off. For example, the thinnest part of the stroke making up any letter appears to have holes in it. This is all very frustrating and has caused our department to print final versions on the HP Laserjets so that we have better quality. I can't believe that our expensive postscript printer is doomed to a life of printing out program listings and S plots (since apparently other graphics based programs are doing fine with this printer). Has anyone had similar experiences or know what might lie at the heart of this dilemma. I would appreciate it if you could please reply by e-mail since I will be travelling a lot in the coming month. Thanks a lot! James Hardin jhardin@stat.tamu.edu
