I recently installed TeX3.0 on DecStation 3100 and 5000 running Ultrix 2.2 and 4.0, respectively, (both with "-O2") and encountered a strange problem. On Dec Station 3100 with Ultrix 2.2(cc1.31), everything was OK, while on Dec 5000 with Ultrix 4.0(cc 2.0), on every occurrence of "\( some_math \)" or "$ some_math $", TeX (or LaTeX) processes it erroneously putting "some_math" far to the right of the line (leaving a lot of white space before "some_math") and skipping the remaining paragraph until a new paragraph begins. The tex file I processed is one of the distribution tex files, i.e., "local.tex". So it is not an error in my tex file. I think it is Ultrix 4.0 or cc 2.0 problem. Has anyone experienced the same thing? Has anybody reported this behavior before and posted a fix? How about TeX3.1? Do you Ultrix users have the same problem? I've got TeX3.1 in a data cartridge which is not usable with TK50 drive. Please help me. I need to have real job done other than software installation. Please email. Thanks. -hsong- nvuxl!hsong@bellcore.bellcore.com PS: On Csh command line, you need to type "nvuxl\!hsong@..."
