[comp.text.tex] Bold math in LaTeX

gerard@caliban.soest.Hawaii.Edu (Gerard Fryer) (12/23/90)

Can anyone tell this neophyte how to solve his problem?

Using LaTeX (or perhaps TeX commands within LaTeX) I want to get
bold Greek characters, but not italics (I don't like setting
vectors in italics). Getting bold italics is no problem with
\boldmath, but combinations of \rm and \boldmath fail to give me
non-italic Greek characters (dare I say "Roman Greek?"). Any
suggestions? I know it is possible to get non-italic bold Greek
characters as I managed to do it once. I wrote a note to myself
in my LaTeX manual, but that was stolen long ago and I just cannot
reconstruct what I did then.
