I have a Panasonic KXP-1124 (a high-quality 360x360 dpi dot-matrix printer) which I use with a DVI-driver to print high-quality text. Now I'd like to modify develop the .TFM files I need to use the installed fonts (which are similar to TeX's \tt font) directly. My goal is to define a family of installed fonts which can be used for RAPID proofing of early rough drafts --- using the high-quality dot-graphics mode takes several minutes per page. I have the TeXBook and the METAFONTBook, but I haven't yet found the secret. All help will be appreciate. If I figure out the secret, I'll post it here. Peter Olsen pcolsen@super.super.org
