[comp.text.tex] Info-Tex as a feed to the newsgroup comp.text.tex

bsrdp@warwick.ac.uk (Hylton Boothroyd) (01/08/91)

This appears to have just been arranged. Was it wise? I ask as an
ordinary reader who is already finding it disorientating to see email
messages which come to me directly from Info-TeX being repeated on
comp.text.tex several/many hours later

On comp.text.tex there is little to distinguish discussion proper to
comp.text.tex with discussion echoed from Info-Tex. I haven't seen
anyone explain whether attempts to join an Info-Tex discussion will
ever get back to that list. It seems more likely to cause splintering and
going round in circles.

So may I propose that we ask the Info-Tex list manager to cancel this
connection before confusion runs riot.

I make this suggestion at this stage to prompt discussion. It is NOT
yet a firm request to the Info-TeX list manager. Indeed, you may well think
that I have misunderstood what is happening!
