[comp.text.tex] Problems with Textures on the Mac

x51@nikhefh.nikhef.nl (Excursiecommissie) (01/22/91)

Hi folks,
We are having some problems with the co-existence of the programs
SuitCase 1.2.6 and Textures 1.2 on a MacII.
When Suitcase is off, Textures works OK. However, if I enable SuitCase
Tex refuses to typeset anything, giving the error:
"Too many open files" after opening the first couple of files.
Anybody know what the problem is?

It is quite an annoying problem, because this particular MacII is used by
a number of people: worshippers of TeX and people just wanting to write
a paper with normal fonts, and I use SuitCase to supply lots of fonts to
them.

Thanks for any help?
Axel.

Suitcase can possibly keep open many files (especially if the many fonts
you said you use are in separate files). The Macintosh has a limit on the
number of open files. You may change this number with various utilities, of
which I forget the names. (I think one of them IS suitcase.)

Anyway, hope this helps out...
