[comp.text.tex] dvips and tfm files

little@odin.ucsd.edu (Glenn Little) (01/24/91)

I am installing the new dvips546. There is one paragraph in the
  installation instructions that says:

"Don't forget to install the new vf files or tfm files. Note that
the tfm files distributed with earlier (pre-5.4) versions of dvips,
and all version of other Postscript drivers, are different."

My question is, where do I find these vf and tfm files? I got the
dvips from labrea and didn't see any obvious sets of vf or tfm files.
I could have just missed them.

  Thanks.

dvipslib.tar.Z contains the vf and tfm files. You can also make them from
the afm files with afm2tfm and vptovf.

See dvipsafm.tar.Z for the afm files.
vptovf should be in your TeX distribution, or could be obtained from labrea
(or from various other archives, like our mail-server)
