[comp.text.tex] psfig question

kochhar@harvard.harvard.EDU (Sandeep) (02/11/91)

Hi!
I have successfully used psfig to include figures in latex documents.
However, I occasionally run into the following problem:

how do I scale a figure by a fixed amount? e.g. if I want to
scale a figure by 0.5, how???

The reason I need this capability (as an alternative to width=, height=)
is that sometimes I have two or more figures that are related, use the
same font, etc. However, their sizes are different. If I used width/height
to scale the figures, the results can contain very different font sizes,
line widths, etc. I'd rather just scale them by the same amount (even if
one figure ends up occupying less than the full width of a line).

Any help will be appreciated.
thanks.
